Our Golden Years Community Project

GuardianCard was created when two friends and colleagues, Nick Thompson and Aidan McAlister had a chance discussion about their older relatives, Nick’s mum in law and Aidan’s parents, and the worries they had around the safety and security of their day to day finances.  They looked around for a solution and, as there didn’t seem to be one, came up with one themselves in GuardianCard!  This says a lot about the kind of people Nick and Aidan are.  They are family men at heart and have a strong sense of community.  That’s why, when they created GuardianCard, they wanted the company to have a part to play in the community that it’s clients would bring. The result of this is GuardianCard’s Golden Years Community Project.

Nick said, ‘At GuardianCard we really want to help the community.  Our customers are at the heart of our business and we want our charitable work to reflect that. We want to support and raise awareness of the charities that support the older members of society and to help them get the best out of life.’

There are three elements to the Golden Years Community Project:

The people

As part of the Golden Years Community Project, Nick and Aidan, and every member of the GuardianCard team is given three days paid leave a year to volunteer with a charity that is close to our hearts.

Donation of profits

Our chosen charities support older people to live fulfilled lives and alleviate loneliness and hardship. We also commit 5% of our annual profits to our Golden Years Community Project, dedicated to supporting our friends.

So, every time you use your GuardianCard or support our fundraising initiatives, you’ll be giving back too.

Our community

We want to work with the charities that are close to our hearts and support them now and in the future. Our goal is to help equip these charities with more than just donations but also with the tools to grow and prosper.

If you would like to know more about our Golden Years Community Project or if you would like to suggest a charity that would benefit from our support, contact us on hello@guardiancard.co.uk, we’d love to hear from you.
